Description

Special Olympics East Asia is composed of 5 accredited Programs: Special Olympics China, Special Olympics Chinese Taipei, Special Olympics Hong Kong, Special Olympics Korea and Special Olympics Macau. The total number of athletes in the region reached 774,929 according to 2007 census, an increase of 17.4% over the previous year of 660,014. In 2007, the 12th Special Olympics World Summer Games was held in Shanghai, China, with active participation of approximately 1600 athletes from the region.
